Welcome to Jean Monnet- Jean Mermoz high school
On September 5th we were very pleased to welcome our school's 1121 students.
They can attend trainings ranging from "3DP6" (year 10 vocational training), academic, technological and vocational A-levels to the "SIL" bachelor's degree (computer science).
Our educational offer is indeed extremely diverse and allows us to meet Cantal's local needs.
This year, we were particularly satisfied with our exam results. Let us point to the achievements of students in the following courses :
- A 96% pass rate for the Social Science and Economics A-levels
- A 93.8% pass rate for the Science A-levels
- A 100% one for "STI GM", "STI GSI" and "ELEEC" vocational A-levels.
Our four 2-year post A-level courses also achieved an exceptional 86%.
However a lot of extra work will enable us to further improve these results.
This school year, academic progress and individual support will be tailored to the wishes, abilities and needs of our students.
This will be at the heart of our work.
We also have to mention current reforms focused on academic courses and on the "STI2D" A-level. We expect the latter to be successful and to appeal to a greater number of girls in the years to come.
We shouldn't forget the 2-year post A-level courses ("SIO" and "CRSA") that have just been added to our educational courses.
Besides, we give sportsmen the opportunity to practise sport within the framework of their schooling : handball and football for girls, rugby, climbing and swimming.
Thus, individual timetables are adapted to include training sessions.
The 227 staff members will be fully dedicated to reach the goals which are our priorities : a greater emphasis on access to culture, making the most of our school's characteristics, developing our students' ambition.
Last, the school year 2011-2012 will allow us to focus on our international partnerships. Exchanges and communication have already linked our school to the Pablo Serrano High School in Saragossa (Spain) and to Middlesbrough (Northern England).
To conclude, our students will benefit from the numerous projects we have.
Antoine de St Exupéry inspires us and leads us to think that allowing the future to come true is better than trying to forecast it.
