 Seconde générale et technologique (year 11)


The integration of year10 students in public state schools is solely up to the Academy Inspector who will forward the integration decision to the headmasters in charge of student registration.

Discovering my preferences and my particular abilities to be able to choose an A-level course that will start in year 12 ("classe de première").

 Second foreign language (2 hours 30)
    - English
    - or German
    - or Spanish

 Mathematics (4 hours)

 Physics and chemistry (3 hours)

 Biology and geology (1 hour 30)

 Physical education (2 hours)

 Civic education (½ hour)

 Individual support and teaching (2 hours)

 

2 or 3 exploration subjects (1h30each)

I can choose an economy-oriented subject among the following :

 SES social science and economics

 PFEG basic principles of economy and management

I can choose a second exploration subject among the following or the remaining one above (1 or 2)

 PFEG or SES (different from the one selected in 1)

 SS : social work and health care

 biotechnology

 CIT : creation and technological innovation

 SI : engineering

 MPS : scientific methods and practice.

SES Social science and economics

Students will discover the methods and general knowledge that are related to economics and sociology. Work will be based on various topical issues ( using documents and group work strategy) : How do we socialize? What may account for differences in family pastimes? Who generates wealth? How do companies produce? In what respect do income and price influence consumers' choices ? In what respect do age, social background and the media influence consumption? How are prices set? How can we fight pollution?

PFEG basic principles of economy and management

Students will discover the basic principles of economy and management by taking an interest in the actions of entities they are in daily contact with: companies, associations…. How do they work? What is their economic role? How are they related to other economic entities?. What development strategies do they opt for, especially in terms of innovation? How do they meet their customers' demands? What challenges and restrictions do they have to face when it comes to the law?

Social work and health care

The protection of health through its evolution, health care facilities, the issue of biology, the welfare state and its regional organization are all themes that will be presented to students to deal with the link between good health and successful social integration. This implies studying disability, the social needs of different generations, health and local organization of community life. This course also tackles careers that are related to the medical and social work fields.


Biotechnology

The environment, health, research, industry…. Many fields which allow to discover scientific experiment process, the use of measuring and identification tools as well as bio-industrial methods that are related to biotechnology. Quality and biological security are carefully taken into account as well as the contribution of sciences and technology.

Creation and technological innovation

Creativity requires innovative principles. This approach is analyzed through concrete examples ( design of performance spaces, three dimensional imagery, robot programming and design). Let your creativity express itself through concrete projects.

Engineering

Through the issue of sustainable development, analyze how products or complex systems meet the needs of our society. Analyze systems and discover working methods which are specific to engineers (research, communication, conception, modelling, simulation).

Scientific methods and practice

How to get used to scientific approaches with projects requiring mathematics, biology, physics and chemistry. These teachings will point to the contribution and importance of these subjects and will refer to what can be questioned in our modern societies. The objective is to discover these issues and to tackle them in an objective way. It also allows to learn about different scientific careers and studies.
